Mr. Howe founded Old Hill Partners in 1996 and The Patriot Group in 2002. The Patriot Group is an asset-based lender and shares offices with Old Hill Partners in Darien, Connecticut. Prior to founding Old Hill Partners, Mr. Howe was a Managing Director at Nomura Securities in New York from 1990 to 1995 where he oversaw the $40 billion Government Business Unit, that included U.S. Treasury and Agency trading, Repo and Money Markets as well as the Canadian Fixed Income operations. Prior to joining Nomura, Mr. Howe was a Partner and Senior Vice President at Kidder Peabody, where he managed and traded fixed income securities for seven years. Mr. Howe received his undergraduate degree from Tufts University after graduating from Middlesex School in Concord, MA. He also holds a graduate degree from Columbia University (with a specialization in international business). He was a Captain in the United States Army, serving ten years in both an active and reserve capacity.
Mr. Haas is a multi-talented professional with diverse financial experience focusing on equity trading, trading strategies, structured transactions, due diligence, and portfolio management. From May 2009 through March 2011, Mr. Haas was a Co-Portfolio Manager and Chief Operating Officer of Juniperhill Asset Management LLC, a small cap focused investment advisory firm, where he was responsible for structuring financing transactions and due diligence associated with private placements. From May 2004 through June 2008, Mr. Haas was a Portfolio Manager of Centrecourt Asset Management LLC, a small cap focused investment advisory firm, where he was responsible for structuring financing transactions and due diligence associated with private placements in small capitalized companies, in addition he was responsible for all trading activities, including the hedging and risk management functions. From 1995 through 2003, Mr. Haas was a portfolio manager and trader at CIBC World Markets where he co-managed proprietary trading for less liquid investments. Prior to 1995, Mr. Haas worked as a professional performing operational review of financial institutions and an audit manager. Mr. Haas earned an MBA in Finance & International Business from NYU's Leonard N. Stern School of Business, and a B.BA in Accounting from Adelphi University. Mr. Haas is a Certified Public Accountant.
In 2006, Mr. Field joined The Patriot Group as Controller and currently serves as the Chief Financial Officer. Mr. Field previously served as the Assistant Controller of Gerald Metals, a nonferrous and precious metal trading firm. Mr. Field's responsibilities consisted of managing the annual audit process for the consolidated group, statutory reporting for foreign subsidiaries, organized entity structures for acquisitions and joint ventures, supporting the due diligence process for multiple financing facilities and corporate compliance. Mr. Field has over 18 years of accounting experience in the private sector. Mr. Field holds a BS from Bryant College.
Scot Weisberg is a seasoned credit professional with eighteen years of experience in the lending industry. He has worked for a handful of notable firms such as Congress Financial, CIT, Fortress Investment Group, and ALCO Financial. Mr. Weisberg has managed five separate portfolios over his career totaling more than $1.5 billion in AUM comprised of 120 different companies. Mr. Weisberg has spent time in every facet of lending starting as an auditor, collateral analyst, cash management analyst, portfolio manager, underwriting, and workout. Additionally, he has held senior positions as Chief Operating Officer, Chief Credit Officer, Director Of Workout & Restructuring, SVP of Special Assets and held seatÂs as a credit committee and board member. He currently serves on the board of Soundshore Paper & Erickson Framing both portfolio companies of Atlas Holdings.
Mr. Faigl joined The Patriot Group in June 2009. He is responsible for accounting analysis, asset level modeling and structuring of Patriot's asset-based investments. Mr. Faigl was most recently with NewStar Financial, a commercial finance company with focus on lending to middle market borrowers. While at NewStar, Mr. Faigl helped the company develop both its structured finance securities and asset-based investment businesses. Prior to NewStar, Mr. Faigl was responsible for structuring and optimal execution of asset backed principal transactions at UBS Investment Bank. Mr. Faigl started his career in 1998 at Banc of America Securities as an analyst in their Global ABS Group. He is a CFA charter holder and a graduate of James Madison University with majors in quantitative finance and economics, and a minor in mathematics.
Mr. Warnken joined Patriot with broad experience in credit analysis and private equity, most recently serving as a credit analyst for Old Hill Partners. Prior to joining Old Hill Partners, Mr. Warnken was a partner at a business process outsourcing company where he was responsible for sourcing and evaluating potential acquisitions. Mr. Warnken began his career as an investment banking analyst in the Natural Resources group at Lehman Brothers. Mr. Warnken received his BA from Yale University and is a Level II CFA candidate.
Harlan H. Simon was formerly Managing Director and Head of Business Development for Clinton Group, XE Capital Management and Enso Capital Management and Academy Investment Management. Prior to his business development role, he served Clinton Group as Portfolio Manager for Mortgage Backed Securities and Chief Investment Officer of Exemplar Capital, Clinton Group's Fund of Funds. Prior to Clinton Group, he held senior investment roles at Bankers Trust Company, FX Concepts and Bank of America.
Mr. Simon holds a B.A. in Economics from Columbia College and an MBA from the Wharton School of The University of Pennsylvania.
Ms. Hopkins has over 22 years of experience in legal administration. Prior to joining Patriot in November 2010, Ms. Hopkins served as the paralegal at the Law Offices of David C. Erdos, LLC, a firm specializing in real estate and corporate matters. Ms. Hopkins' responsibilities included all aspects of commercial and real estate closings, asset purchases and sales, and other duties. Ms. Hopkins holds a BA from Sacred Heart University.
Mr. Ahn joined Patriot with experience in trading and finance. Mr. Ahn was most recently in a Carbon Finance industry and started his career as a financial analyst with Bloomberg. Mr. Ahn also worked at an international trading company as both a financial analyst and trader with marketing and client relations responsibilities. Mr. Ahn received his BA from New York University, Leonard N. Stern School of Business with majors in Finance and International Business.
